Description

In the heart of northwestern Bosnia, within the municipality of Mrkonjić Grad—a region characterized by wooded hills and a network of rivers and streams—a new industrial plant for the processing of silica and its derivatives will be built in the Bjelajce area, on a site previously used for industrial activities. The project, strongly supported and promoted by the local government, involves the construction of several interconnected buildings corresponding to the various stages of raw material processing. The plant site covers approximately 70,000 square meters and is bordered to the south by the main regional road, while to the north, east, and west it is surrounded by the Crna Rijeka (Black River) and the accompanying vegetation. The central portion of the site is occupied by the main production facilities, which reach up to 40 meters in height. These include the building housing the blast furnace and its adjacent structures: the chimney with filters, silos, and cyclones. Additional buildings include compressor and transformer units, medium-voltage substations, warehouses and storage facilities, water treatment and storage tanks, weighing stations, and pits for raw material crushing. All steel and reinforced concrete structures are designed to be earthquake-resistant and comply with European regulations.
