Lines of an Invisible Architecture

Studio Lodrini has conducted an in-depth theoretical and design-based analysis on the relationship between architecture and sensory perception, aiming to move beyond the dominant visual approach and propose an architecture capable of engaging all five senses.

The study examines the role of vision throughout architectural history, highlighting how architectural thinking has progressively reduced the overall sensory involvement of built spaces.

This reflection translates into a design approach more attentive to perceptual stimuli – such as light, sound, scent, and material – with the goal of enhancing the spatial experience for users. Architecture is therefore understood not only as a functional and formal organization, but also as a tool to activate the relationship between environment and individual.
