Integral and coordinated design and construction management.
The design idea of the new school complex, made necessary given the considerable demographic expansion of the town, is inspired by the Anglo-Saxon campus model, characterized by the inclusion of all the buildings within a large green area of about 20,000 square meters, available for recreational activities. The Polo, designed as a whole, was then made in excerpts starting from the new elementary school. The layout of the building, consisting of two parallel buildings closed to the east by a third volume, encloses a large green lawn. The main structure of the building, consisting of reinforced concrete beams and pillars, is made visible on the facade and geometrically designs the different elevations, completed by exposed brick infill walls and metal profile windows. The architectural choice of these elements was also determined by the reduced deterioration over time and their consequent minimum maintenance. The peculiarity of the building is the essentiality of the regular step of the spans and the full / empty ratio constituted by the regularity of the openings, shielded by painted steel canopies and constitute a character of recognizability of the buildings of the pole. Inside 21 classrooms for ordinary school activities, 9 workshops, gymnasium, teachers' classrooms, infirmary, toilets and collective spaces. The internal distribution corridor of the ground floor to the south-east connects the school building with the volume dedicated to the refectory / canteen for children and teachers, complete with kitchen, pantry, service rooms and a large room divided centrally into two portions in order to separate the two school orders that they use this service, namely the elementary school and the middle school. The canteen is directly connected to the square between the schools, a large outburst for the recreational activity of the students.
